Apple to hold special event October 16

Rick Otto

Apple today sent out invites for an event to take place October 16 at 10AM PT.  It's expected that the event will be used to unveil the next generation iPad Mini and iPad Air. Mac users won't be left out though.  It's expected that OS X Yosemite will also be released at the event.

Along with the release of OS X and new iPads Apple may have more in mind.  It's possible that there will be updated Mac hardware, possibly a new iMac.  If a new iMac is introduced it's expected to be a Retina iMac.  Also, it's possible that iOS 8.1 will be released at the event.  It's expected that along with the release of iOS 8.1 Apple Pay will officially be released.

There's been rumors of what's expected in the next generation iPad.  It's expected that the iPad will become available in an additional color, gold.  Also, TouchID is expected to come to the new iPads.  The WiFi is also expected to be updated to the new 802.11ac standard.  The A8 processor and M8 motion processor will likely also arrive in the new iPads.  As always the new iPads also will likely be thinner than the previous generation.
